New logo for The Grill

After the success of the t-shirt I made for The Grill, they asked me to redesign their logo entirely. I spent a long time sketching, shown to the left, but eventually we decided that this was the best fit for the restaurant. They wanted the logo to portray reliability while maintaining a feeling of fun.

The thickness of the type holds up the reliability part, while the typeface of "the" adds a fun feeling. I wanted the logo to be more than just a fancy typeface so I added the utensils and flame because their motto is "the grill is always on."

All of the elements (except "the") are hand-drawn. This logo will be printed on shirts for the employees to wear, the entrances to the restaurant, all print platforms like menus, business cards, pint glasses, etc.
